Jesus' prayer for his disciples contained a request to his Father that his mission in the
world is following His Father's plan. In John 15:18-27, Jesus already knew that the
world had hated Him first for no reason. Of course, later it will also have an impact
on His disciples. The situation at that time, people who believed in Jesus were in a
tough struggle, experienced, in fighting for their faith in Christ. The study wants to
measure the effect of understanding Jesus' prayer in John 17:20-26 on the importance
of realizing that prayer in today's times. This type of quantitative descriptive research.
Respondents were 81 STT SAPPI students. Purposive sample, categorical descriptive
data analysis, and hypothesis testing of SPSS 20 application. The results showed (a)
STT SAPPI students' understanding of Jesus' prayer in John 17:20-26
Categorized as high, (b) understanding the importance of realizing Jesus' prayer in the
present time is low (37%), which is contrary to the findings on the variable
understanding of Jesus' prayer in John 17:20-26 which is categorized as high, which
means that high understanding does not guarantee its practice. also high, and (c) and
there is a fairly strong positive influence between understanding Jesus' prayer in John
17:20-26 with the importance of realizing the present (r = 0.563). The determination
value (R2) is 0.317 (31.7%) meaning, the model used can explain the variation of Y
(understanding of Jesus' prayer in John 17:2026) of 31.7%. The remaining 68.3% is
influenced or explained by variables other than the important variables of the
realization of the prayer in the present.
